About Me

My Esports Journey

My esports experience started as a player. As a teen, I competed in several titles including FIFA, Halo: Reach, and The Culling. In 2017, Fortnite released its battle royale game which I instantly latched onto, especially with their open tournament system. In 2020, I joined the collegiate Fortnite league (operated by PlayVS). I quickly fell in love with this experience which led me to create a Fortnite team (which later became part of the esports club) at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

Around the same time, I also started volunteering with PlayVS in as many capacities as possible to ensure players got the best experience as possible. This included tournament operations (specifically format design and verification), observing, casting, and stats tracking. This is where I truly developed my passion for working in esports with the desire to perfect the experience for players, viewers, partners, and anyone else involved in an event. My passion is particularly strong for competitions featuring underrepresented players who have barriers to entering the highest level of competition (college students, women, people of color, etc.).

While I continued volunteering with PlayVS’ league, the competition shut down at the end of 2021. In early 2022, College Carball Association (under efuse) began running collegiate Fortnite competitions in its place. I immediately offered to volunteer again with this new tournament organizer. I was fortunate enough that my talents and contributions on both the broadcast and operations sides were quickly recognized and appreciated and I became a freelancer. At this point, I began freelancing on as many esports events as I could. This ultimately led to a long-term contract with efuse where I observed and was an admin. After continuing to deliver at the highest level, I was offered a full-time job at efuse as an Event Operations Coordinator in September 2022.

In my time at efuse, I have worked on hundreds of events. My responsibilities have included managing player communication and support, working with sponsors and partners to design events to fulfill their unique desires, managing admin teams, and training broadcast teams. Some of my favorite events have been the Collegiate Cup and Women of the Erena series. In both cases, my work included designing event formats and rules, working with partners (Epic Games) to meet their goals, and supporting players. These events are especially important to me because they present opportunities in esports for both players and broadcast staff that wouldn’t otherwise exist. If it weren’t for events like these, I may never have had the chance to become an esports professional and I providing others with this chance.

Alongside my full-time work at efuse, I continue to fulfill my passion with freelance work. There is nothing I enjoy more than elevating an event to the highest level whether that is through a role in production, tournament operations, or content. Through extreme dedication to my craft, I’ve had the privilege of working 2 Fortnite Championship Series Global LANs, the pinnacle of the esport: as an observer in 2022 and as an admin in 2024.

Education

I graduated from Franklin W. Olin College of Engineering (Needham, MA) where I earned my bachelor’s degree in engineering design. During my time at Olin, I learned and developed many skills that I apply in my work in esports. These skills include product design, creative problem solving, project coordination and management, and working with partners in collaborative design.

I currently am working on my Master of Business Administration remotely at Florida Southern College (Lakeland, FL). I am in my final course and will graduate in December 2024. Through this program, I gained insights and skills in all aspects of business operations. This is especially true in the esports world through the esports-specific courses: Esports Digital Marketing and Esports Business Models and Trends.

Awards and Achievements

At the 2023 Scholars Awards, I was nominated for the following 3 awards as part of the College Carball Association:

  • Gaming Conference of the Year (for what)

  • LAN of the Year (for what)

  • Tournament Organizer of the Year (for what)

At the 2023 Tempest Awards at the Esports Business Summit, I was nominated for and won the ‘The Best Collegiate, Amateur, Semi-Pro Event’ Award for the 2022 'MFAM Gauntlet Presents OSU v. UM Rivalry Series' event where I was a tournament organizer.
